An accidental cut hurts your body, but it also hurts your clothes, too. Removing blood stains can be a pain without the right knowledge on how to do it. Blood stains are actually easy to remove. Read our tips to see how you can quickly fix blood-stained clothes with a few things from around the house.

How to Remove Blood Stains

WD-40 will loosen the blood stain from the fabric. Spray the WD-40 on the stain and wait for five minutes. Place the item in the washing machine and wash as usual.

Make a paste out of cornstarch and water. Apply the paste by gently rubbing it onto the blood stains, then set the clothing aside. Wait until the mixture has dried then brush off the paste using a cloth or toothbrush. Remember to only use cold water when removing a stain.

Salt Water

With this process you want to act quickly. As soon as the stain is on the fabric, take action. Add salt to some cold water and immerse the stained clothing in the solution for a few hours. After it’s soaked, rub the stain with a toothbrush or clean cloth. Don’t rub too hard as it will ruin the fabric. Wash as usual with your regular detergent for a full cycle.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Apply hydrogen peroxide to the blood stain. It will begin to foam on the stain; try not to let the foam get away from the stain. Keep applying hydrogen peroxide as the foam subsides. Rub with a tooth brush or a clean cloth. Rinse in cold water and wash as usual.

Away from Home

If you are out for the night and get a blood stain on your favorite shirt, don’t wait to get the stain out. The longer stains sit on fabric, the harder it is to remove later. Coke is a great trick for getting rid of blood stains when you are away from home. Soak the stain in cola for as long as you can. Rinse and let it dry.
