Computers have become an integral part of life. They contain our precious pictures and important documents. They enable us to connect to one another regardless of distance. Most people use them daily, if not constantly. These items, vital to modern life, are also delicate and becoming increasingly so as they become smaller and more mobile. They need to be sanitized to prevent illness and cleaned regularly to run properly. It’s important to know how to keep a clean computer.

How to Clean a Computer

Computer Screen

It can be distracting to stare at a dirty computer screen when you’re trying to work. Use 5 minutes of your time to wipe away streaks and dust and maximize your work output. Mix equal parts water and white vinegar and put in a spray bottle. Spray the solution onto a microfiber cloth. Wipe down your computer screen in a circular motion until the screen is completely clean.

Detach the keyboard from the computer. For quick cleanings use a can of compressed air to blow out any debris from the keyboard. For a deeper cleaning, soak a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and swab the entire keyboard.

Quick wipe-downs on your shirt or pants may get a tablet dust-free in a pinch, but it doesn’t truly clean or sanitize. It’s easy to give a tablet a slightly deeper clean. Just use a clean, barely damp cloth to rub away dirt. Rub in small circles around the screen and dry when the cleaning is done. Tablets can be damaged if you use alcohol to clean them. Water is the best way to cut dirt and grease buildup.

Dip a clean cloth into water and squeeze out the excess water until the cloth is barely damp. Too much water will damage the laptop screen. Turn off your laptop and carefully wipe the screen until clean. To clean the laptop keyboard use a can of compressed air to clear away any debris.

Mouse pad

Cleaning a mouse pad is a very quick job. Simply wipe down the mouse pad with a damp rag or a disinfecting wipe. You might like reading a post about cleaning computer accessories.

It’s Important to Have a Clean Computer

Clean computers run better and keep you healthier. It is especially important to sanitize the parts of the computer or tablet that receive a lot of physical contact. If you cannot regularly maintain your computers, call a maid service and ask them to help you.
