Basic Cleaning

Put away any items that are cluttering up your countertop. Once that’s done, fill the bathroom sink with warm soapy water. Wet a sponge or rag and wipe down the entire counter top. After wiping the counter dry with a clean rag.

• Laminate

Laminate can be cleaned with bleach, vinegar, disinfecting wipes, or basic warm soapy water. Laminate’s not picky, so scrub with any of these products using a sponge or rag and then dry with a clean cloth afterward. Caution: Do not clean laminate counter tops with scouring pads, scouring powder, or steel wool. These abrasives will leave micro-scratches, making future stains more likely.

• Marble

Fill a spray bottle with an all-purpose water-based cleaner. Spray the cleaner on the surface of your counter and wipe down the entire marble countertop with a soft wet cloth or sponge. Don’t use any acidic cleaners (like vinegar) as they will eat away at the surface of the marble and cause etching or dull spots.

• Granite

Only use warm soapy water to clean a granite countertop. Wipe down the surface with a microfiber cloth that has been saturated with the soapy water. Caution: Never use ammonia, bleach, vinegar, lemon, or any other acidic cleaners on granite. They can break down the sealant and cause damage.
