The laundry room is a utilitarian space, but that doesn’t mean it has to be messy or ugly. Make the chore of doing your laundry a little nicer by at least having a clean space to do it in. Use these tips on how to get a clean laundry room.
The Laundry Room Sink
Laundry room sinks frequently sport lime build-up and soap scum. Use a solution made from equal parts vinegar and water to clean the sink. Scrub and then simply rinse and send all the grime down the drain.
Hampers and Laundry Baskets
Hamper: Take the empty hamper outside and wet with a hose. (If you don’t have a hose, a bucket of water or even a spray bottle will work.) Scrub the hamper with soapy water and a sponge, then rinse with the hose. Let the hamper dry completely before you put any clothes in it.
If your hamper smells, you can eliminate odor with baking soda. Just sprinkle some over the hamper’s surfaces and let it sit for 20 minutes before cleaning it off.
Laundry Basket: This is maybe the easiest chore in the world, but an important one. (Just think of all the dirty and sweaty clothes that have sat in that laundry basket. And when was the last time you cleaned it?) To clean, spray an all-purpose spray on a clean cloth or rag. Wipe down the basket with the rag. Scrub away any build-up or gunk. Be amazed at how easy it was; its just like how to clean laundry room. Easy!
