How to Clean Bathroom FloorsEverybody has their own bathroom routine (or routines). Multiply that by how many people are using that bathroom and you have a highly trafficked area. Add to that the fact that the bathroom is the first place you go to after doing anything messy or fun—hopping right in the shower after getting dirty gardening or playing with your kids outside on a summer day—and it’s easy to see how bathroom floors are frequently a mess. When you’ve got to clean up one of the dirtiest floors in the house, use these tips to make sure you do the job right.

Use Rugs

Rugs are a great way to avoid tracking any extra dirt and grime into your bathroom. An absorbent rug in front of your bathtub or shower is also great for stopping any water from getting on your bathroom floor.

Remove Soap Scum

Mix together 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup water, and 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap. Apply to the soap scum with a sponge or rag and scrub until clean. Dry with a clean towel.

Open Windows

Keeping a bathroom window open prevents mold from growing. If you do not have a window in your bathroom be sure to keep the fan on while showering.

Sweep Bathroom Floors

Sweeping or vacuuming dust and debris is the most important step to keeping your floors clean. Sweep at least once a day to keep dust and dirt from accumulating.

Spot-clean

Clean just a little regularly and you’ll save yourself from the long, exhausting cleanings that result from waiting too long. Mix together 1 part bleach to 2 parts warm water, saturate a sponge or cloth, and scrub the floor until you have cleaned off the dirt. Using a clean cloth wipe the spot dry.

Cleaning Hard-surface Floors

Mop your bathroom floors with a mixture of 1 gallon of hot water and 1 cup of white vinegar. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and will remove any dirt or stains. It even removes hairspray!

Keep your restroom looking immaculate using these quick cleaning tips. Rugs to trap dirt, frequent sweepings, quick wipe-downs…it’s simple stuff. However, if your work schedule simply doesn’t allow these little tasks, you can ask your local house cleaning service for help with your cleaning desires.
