Go Fishing Day is in June.  It shouldn’t come as a surprise that you are supposed to go fishing on Go Fishing Day!  Fishing is considered one of the most relaxing hobbies that exists.  Picture a small boat sitting on a peaceful lake at dawn with a couple fishing poles dangling in the water.  That is definitely one of the many ways to go fishing.  Others may enjoy deep sea fishing on a large boat in the big ocean or fly fishing by wading into the water and standing.  You can fish with a fishing pole or a net.  You can fish for food or catch and release.  It is all up to you how you want to celebrate Go Fishing Day.

Celebrate Go Fishing Day

Go Fishing Day invites people to spend a peaceful day outside and get in touch with nature. Even if you missed this year’s Go Fishing Day, it doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate at the next available opportunity.  I don’t think the fish will mind!

How to Enjoy Go Fishing Day

Getting up early and going to a lake or river to fish increases the probability you’ll catch some fish.  Some people like to spend the entire day outside on the water fishing.  Even if they do not catch any fish, avid fishermen do not find it boring. Going fishing any day is a great opportunity to leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city.  You can go alone or with people you enjoy spending time with.  Most fishermen will say to keep quiet so you do not scare away the fish!  You’ll have to wait for another opportunity catch up on conversation.  Many people think of fishing as a great father and son bonding opportunity.  Perhaps that is why Go Fishing Day is near Father’s Day!

House Cleaning after Fish Preparation

When you get home with all of the fish you’ve caught on Go Fishing Day, you’ll need to clean and prepare them for cooking.  This task can be quite messy.  You’ll need to do some house cleaning before to sanitize the space you’ll use to reduce the opportunity of food contamination.  After the fish has been prepared, there will definitely be some house cleaning required.  You will need to dispose of all of the fish bones, tails, and heads.  Ensure that these parts are properly disposed of because they will start to stink in almost no time.  You’ll also need to properly clean up the surfaces and tools used to clean the fish.  Use a disinfecting cleaner or wipe to thoroughly scrub the countertops.  Wash all the tools and knifes with antibacterial dish soap or run through a dishwasher. Don’t forget to clean your fishing gear!

No matter how or when you celebrate Go Fishing Day, the important thing is that you get out on the water and relax.  Enjoy the beauty of nature that we so often take for granted in our day to day lives.
