Small Business of the Year AwardPortland State University Business Outreach Program awarded Fortino Barajas the Small Business of the Year Award.

Portland State University’s Business Outreach Program states the program’s purpose is to provide “technical assistance and business consulting services to locally owned, small businesses, with a focus on emerging, minority, and women-owned enterprises.”

Fortino Barajas is the founder of Maids by Trade, a professional house cleaning company that uses eco-friendly products and practices. Since starting as a one-man operation, Fortino has grown his business to one that provides over 30 full-time jobs and serves clients throughout Oregon and Washington.

The PSU BOP consists of individuals that are knowledgeable about and active in the Portland business community. It was an honor to be recognized by such highly-qualified individuals.

Fortino received the Small Business of the Year Award for many reasons, including:

  • Contribution to the local economy through job creation
  • Consistent and strategic company growth
  • Industry innovation with regard to cleaning practices and services
