Many people love a fresh-smelling candle. It makes your home feel more like home! However, it’s wasteful to buy all those fancy candles and, when the candle’s used up, just get rid of the glass container. Well, waste no more! There is a way to remove candle wax from glass so you can use the container for anything you want.

How to Remove Candle Wax from Glass

Step One

Start with a glass candle container that has burnt off most of its wax. Use a butter knife to scrape away most of the rest of the wax. Don’t scrape too hard though, or you’ll damage the surface.

Step Two

On your stove, bring a small amount of water to a boil. Once it’s boiling, carefully pour the water into the candle jar.  The wax will detach from the glass and float to the surface. Let the jar cool for several minutes before handling it again. Once it’s safe to do so, remove the wax that has floated to the top. If there is wax still stuck to the glass, it will now be soft and easy to scrape off with the butter knife.

Step Three

Use a paper towel to wipe away the very last of the wax from inside the jar. Then clean the jar with hot running water, dish soap, and a sponge. Rinse and dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Keep in mind, you don’t have to throw any of the wax out! Just like you are recycling the container, you can recycle the wax and use it for future projects. If you choose to do so, place the wax in a plastic bag and store in a cool dry place.

Recycle and Remove Candle Wax from Glass!

Now that you have this clean glass container, use it however you want! It can be a unique cup, a flowerpot, or even a holder for a new candle. This cleaning is so simple there’s no reason you can’t remove the wax and put that glass to good use.
