How to Clean Cookie SheetsThe dreaded cookie sheet! It sits in your cupboard an embarrassment to your kitchen, brown and and perpetually stained. What if we told you that you can finally get your cookie sheets looking like new again? Well, you can! Read on to find out how to get clean cookie sheets.

Baking Soda

Sprinkle baking soda on the cookie sheet, then hydrogen peroxide, then another layer of baking soda. (You can also just make a paste from the two ingredients and apply that.) Let this concoction sit for 30 minutes, then scrub the cookie sheet with a clean cloth or sponge in a circular motion. You will start to see a clean cookie sheet again! If you’ve been cleaning and the stains look like they still need a push, upgrade your sponge to steel wool. Continue to scrub until your cookie sheet looks like new.

Cream of Tartar

Cream of tartar is more expensive than baking soda, but it will give your cookware shine like almost nothing else will. To clean, combine 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar with enough vinegar to make a paste. Apply the paste with a moist sponge. Let the mixture sit until dry, then wash and scrub.

Hand Wash

Avoid using the dishwasher to clean a cookie sheet. Hand wash instead and thoroughly dry afterwards. Washing in the dishwasher and not properly drying the cookie sheet can both cause it to rust.

Protect

Line the cookie sheet with parchment paper, aluminum foil, or a silicone baking mat before placing food on it. This will help to prevent stuck-on food and discoloration. The aluminum foil or parchment paper will have to be thrown away, but the silicone mat can be washed and used again and again!

Clean Cookie Sheets Once Again

There is no need to be ashamed about ugly cookie sheets anymore. Now bake away and make tasty treats galore. Your cookie sheet won’t show the difference!
