June 23 is National Pink Day.  There is a whole day dedicated to the color pink and everything the color represents!  Historically, this has been a day for the ladies because pink is a girl’s favorite color.  In today’s society, both men and women wear the color pink.  The color pink was developed in the seventeenth century and is a pale red color.  It was first associated with the color of a flower with the same name.  Today the color pink is associated with several things including breast cancer awareness.

How to Celebrate National Pink Day

The easiest way to celebrate National Pink Day is to wear the color pink.  From pink hair to pink toes and everything in between, the color can be worn all over.  It isn’t just for women either.  Even men can find a wide array of pink attire from bowties to pink polos or even pink pants for the fearless! You can also enjoy pink food and pink beverages on this fun day.  I have visions of pink cupcakes with pink icing, pink cookies with pink sprinkles, and cosmopolitan martinis (or pink lemonade for the kids) dancing in my mind.  Yum!

In addition to your wardrobe, another amazing way you can celebrate National Pink Day is to volunteer or donate to any of the charities that use the color pink.  Breast Cancer charities are likely the most commonly associated with the color pink.  What a great cause to support on National Pink Day!  Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women.  Research and awareness are essential to lowering the impact of this horrible disease.  Making a donation or participating in an event would be a great way to make an impact on this year’s National Pink Day!

Pink Stains

Okay, National Pink Day is definitely a time to celebrate the color pink but what about the things around your home that are pink but not supposed to be?  House cleaning is probably the last thing on your mind.  Do you have pink socks that used to be white?  What about that big pink spot on your living room floor where you spilled red wine a few days ago?  Sometimes, National Pink Day can be used to get rid of the pink where it isn’t supposed to be.  It may be time for a little house cleaning on this holiday!  How to Clean Carpet will help you with that pink wine stain on your carpet and How to Remove Stains from Clothing will help you with those pink socks.  If you really want to celebrate National Pink Day in style, consider hiring a maid service to come in and help with that house cleaning.  Then all you have to do is sit back with your pink cupcake and pink lemonade.  Yay for Pink!
