how to get a clean showerA dirty shower is no way to start (or end) your day. Spending your shower time noticing dirt just reminds you there’s yet another chore left to do. On the other hand, a clean shower frees your mind to wander, to think, dream, sing, or just zone out. Knowing how to clean a shower and clean it quickly will help you dedicate your shower routine to more interesting thoughts than cleaning.

Shower Curtains

Already doing laundry? Finish off by doing a load of shower curtains. Put your shower curtains in the washing machine with two bath towels (adding the bath towels reduces static and helps dry them faster). Add 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of vinegar to the machine. Set the wash cycle to gentle. Let it drip-dry and replace.

Shower Head

First twist the shower head counterclockwise and remove. Put the shower head in a pot filled with white vinegar. Let your shower head soak in the vinegar for 30 minutes. This will help dissolve mineral deposits. Rinse and replace.

Shower Doors

Spray the glass cleaner of your choice on the shower doors. Wipe off the cleaner with paper towels. Repeat as needed.

Shower Walls

Mix bleach and warm water in a bowl or in your tub. Using a scrub brush or sponge, wipe down your shower walls until thoroughly clean. Rinse with warm water and let dry.

Cleaning While You Shower

Keep a spray bottle containing a solution of 1 part vinegar and 1 part water in your shower. Spray the mixture on shower walls and wipe away while you are showering. It only takes a second, and even if it does interrupt your relaxing time or shower-solo, it saves you from having to do it later.

Sealing Grout

Remember to seal the grout in your shower every six months. Doing this will help prevent moisture and grime from weakening the grout.
