The aroma of hot coffee is essential in many households to get the day going right. However, if you don’t regularly clean your coffee maker, you may notice a slight difference in the way your coffee tastes and smells. In order to have the coffee taste you want and not miss out on any energizing buzz, you need to clean your machine once a month. We have the easy step-by-step method on how to get a clean coffee maker.

How to Clean a Coffee Maker

Step One

Mix together 6 cups of water  and 3 cups of white vinegar. Pour this into your coffeemaker where you would normally add water.

Step Two

Put in a coffee filter as you usually would.

Step Three

Turn on the coffeemaker, choose a setting you would normally use, and let the mixture run through the machine.

Step Four

Dump the mixture out of the coffee pot and discard the filter when the cycle is finished.

Step Five

Let the coffeemaker cool for 15 minutes. While letting it cool wash the coffeepot with warm soapy water and rinse. Replace the coffeepot into the coffeemaker.

Step Six

Fill the coffeemaker with plain cold water and turn it on. Let the water wash through your machine for a full cycle. This ensures all of the vinegar solution is completely gone from the coffeemaker.
