Why buy a 10 dollar cleaning product when you can make a similar one using ingredients you bought for less than half that? No one wants to spend money they don’t have to. We probably don’t have to talk you into saving money, so let’s just get started! Here are recipes for cleaning products you can make yourself for cheaper and more natural house cleaning.

How to Make Your Own Cleaning Products

Cleaning Wipes

Place a roll of paper towels inside a container of your choice. (This container needs to have a lid. A good pick is an old baby wipe container or something similar.) Make a mixture with 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1/2 cup of water. Pour this over the paper towels. Secure the lid tightly and give the paper towels 24 hours to soak up all of the mixture before using.

Glass Cleaner

Mix together:

  • 1/2 cup of white vinegar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol

Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and store with all your other household cleaning products. Now you can try it on a glass surface.

Floor Cleaner

Combine 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 gallon of water. Make this solution in a bucket every time it’s time to clean your floors. Note: You should adapt your floor cleaner to your floor type. Only use products you know are safe for your particular kind of floor.

All-purpose Cleaner

Combine:

  • 1 cups of water
  • 2 teaspoons of castile soap

Store in a spray bottle. Break out this all-purpose cleaner when you need to wipe some germs away.

Dishwasher Detergent

Add the following to a plastic container and mix well:

  • 2 cups borax
  • 2 cups of washing soda

To prevent water spots on dishware, add 1 teaspoon of vinegar to the solution. Learn about cleaning a dishwasher.

Furniture Polish

Combine:

  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of white vinegar

Store in a spray bottle. Use when your furniture needs a good shine.
