Toothpaste cleans your teeth, so why not your house? Someone must have wondered this before discovering it was an effective and versatile cleaner for many items throughout the home. Learn how to clean with this common household item.

How to Clean with Toothpaste

Remove Scuff Marks

You can remove scuff marks from leather with toothpaste. Add a squirt to the scuffed area and rub it in with a clean white cloth. After it’s been rubbed in well, wipe it off with a clean damp cloth.

Remove Crayon

If your kids decided a wall was actually a canvas, you don’t have to panic. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to the artwork and scrub with a brush. Toothpaste is a very fine abrasive, perfect for lifting crayon but leaving paint intact.

Polish Chrome

Apply a few dabs to the chrome and gently rub it over the surface using your fingers or a clean cloth. Rinse and dry. Your chrome should look shiny and clean.

Clean an Iron

First, make sure the iron is unplugged and cool to the touch. Once you’ve decided it’s safe to clean, apply the paste to the face of the iron and scrub. Once your iron is free of brown splotches, rinse with a clean damp cloth.

Remove Water Rings

Did a guest forget to use a coaster? Water rings used to ruin the elegant look of nice coffee tables, but they don’t have to anymore. Dab on the toothpaste and rub it in. Wipe off with a clean cloth. You may want to polish the wood to restore its shine after scrubbing.
